Oct. 27, 2016 RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech returns home to the Thomas Assembly Center for two matches this weekend, first taking on UTEP (4-18, 2-7 C-USA) on Friday night at 7 p.m. and then UTSA (15-5, 6-2 C-USA) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Louisiana Tech is coming off of a two-game road swing that saw the Lady Techsters drop a couple of tightly contested matches in Florida last weekend.
UTEP enters the match on Friday night in the midst of a five-game losing streak, but did get a win on the road earlier this season in Birmingham against UAB. The Miners are led by Macey Austin who has over 200 kills on the season, as well as Kylie Baumgartner, who is averaging over a block per set this season.
UTSA has dropped just two games in conference this season, and enters the game as winners in 13 of their last 15 matches. The Roadrunners are propelled by all-conference player Dajana Boskovic who is averaging nearly five kills a set this season, totaling 351 for the year. Three separate UTSA players are averaging nearly a block a set as well.
For Louisiana Tech, Marta Monne is looking to become the first player under head coach Adriano de Souza to register 250 kills and 250 digs in the same season. She is just six kills short of the 250-kill mark. Angela Papach has a team-high 305 kills this season, assisted by Brooke Short who has 839 assists on the season. With 39 blocks on the season, freshman Madeline Davis is averaging almost a block per set.
