DENTON, Texas -- The Louisiana Tech soccer team had its four-match winning streak come to an end on Sunday in the regular season finale, falling 3-1 to North Texas at the Mean Green Soccer Complex.

Despite the loss, LA Tech (14-5-1, 6-4 C-USA) finished with 18 points in the league which puts them as the No. 5 seed in the C-USA Tournament. They will be matched up against No. 4 seed Florida Atlantic in the first round which kicks off on Wednesday, Nov. 2.

"We rested some of our starters, knowing that we were going to have to play three matches in six days," head coach Kevin Sherry said. "This gave us an opportunity to see how well some of our bench players performed which was good to know going into the conference tournament."

North Texas (14-4-1, 9-1 C-USA), securing its third straight conference title, got on the scoreboard first in the 14th minute when Hailey Sutton received a long pass from Marchelle Davis up the middle of the field and was able to tap in it from close range.

However, the Lady Techsters found the equalizer in the 30th minute when Lisanne Kleygrewe put the ball into the left-hand corner off a free kick for her first goal of the season.

Three minutes later, North Texas' Tori Phillips was handed a red card from the head referee, meaning the Mean Green were going to be forced to play a man down the rest of the way.

Despite playing with 10 players, NT notched a goal on a converted penalty kick in the 45th minute just before halftime and added another goal late in the second half on a header from Rachel Holden.

The two teams each finished with 15 shots. Kleygrewe led the way for the Lady Techsters with four shot attempts. LA Tech had the upper-hand on corner kicks with five.

Redshirt freshman Jezabelle Rubalcava got her first career start in net, registering one save. She shared the duties with fellow freshman Carlotta Cartelli who also recorded a save.
