Oct. 6, 2016 RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech will get right back into Conference USA play on Friday night, when the Lady Techsters host Middle Tennessee (4-14, 1-3 C-USA) in the Thomas Assembly Center at 7 p.m.
The Lady Techsters are hoping to break the trend of a recent rough patch, after starting conference play with a brutally tough schedule.
Middle Tennessee enters the match having lost four straight, but did go on the road to open C-USA play, knocking off UAB in four sets. The Blue Raiders are under new leadership the past four games as Jeff Huebner has taken over as the interim head coach.
Middle Tennessee has three players who have reached the century mark for kills, led by Regan Coughlin's 122. Bailey Mason has also registered 113 kills and Dora Peonia has 101. Coughlin, Meg Irvin and Jacqueline Lux have all recorded over 100 digs so far this season. Lux's 522 assists are the most for any Blue Raider.
The two teams met twice in 2015, with Middle Tennessee taking both matches. Middle Tennessee leads the all-time series 7-0.
On the home side, Louisiana Tech has three players who have triple-digit kills, led by Angie Papach's 219, which is followed by Marta Monne who has 172 and Alexa Lister's 114. The defensive effort has been spread across the board as five different Lady Techsters have over 100 digs on the season. In Louisiana Tech's match against ULM on Tuesday, Brooke Short broke 600 assists for the season; she enters the match with 603 to date.
