Nov. 3, 2016 RUSTON, La. - On Friday night, Louisiana Tech will have the opportunity to accomplish a feat that has not been done by a Lady Techster team since 1999, win three consecutive conference games.
Coming off of a win against UTEP last Friday and a monumental upset of UTSA on Sunday, Louisiana Tech will look to harness that momentum as the Lady Techsters travel to Charlotte for a Conference USA matchup on Friday night at 5 p.m. CT. It will be a quick turnaround for LA Tech as they'll also be in action on Sunday afternoon at North Texas at 1 p.m. CT.
Charlotte enters the match just 1-9 so far in conference play, with their lone win coming at home in straight-sets against FIU in October. The 49ers are led by Janell Sparks and Molly Shaw who have each registered over 200 kills this season, while Anna Henderson is the defensive leader, averaging an impressive 1.3 blocks per set.
On Sunday, LA Tech and North Texas will meet for the second time this season. The Mean Green won in straight sets in the first meeting between the two teams, but all three sets were tightly contested. The Mean Green have three separate players with over 200 kills on the season, topped by Amanda Chamberlain's 259. As a team, North Texas has registered over 1,200 kills on the season.
Louisiana Tech is led by Angie Papach who has 337 kills on the season and Marta Monne who has recorded 269 kills and 280 digs. Defensively, Lala Aviles returned from an injury early in the season last weekend and made an immediate impact alongside Jacie McClure. Freshman Madeline Davis is averaging .8 blocks per set in C-USA matches.
Friday's night game will only be available through live stats, but Sunday's match will be available on CUSA.TV ($).
