RUSTON ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬" Louisiana Tech continued its strong start to the dual season by shutting out Texas State, 4-0, on Friday afternoon at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.

LA Tech (8-2) extended its winning streak to four matches and victors of eight of the last nine matches, blanking their fourth opponent this season.

"We played a tough and gritty team today in Texas State," head coach Chad Camper said. "We needed to fight hard to come out on top and we were able to do that. I was pleased that our team was able to find a way to win which helps us learn more about ourselves in the courts."

The match got off to a split in doubles with the duo of Alexandra Starkova and Zoe Chen winning 6-1 on court one and Texas State's (1-5) Katy Collins and Eva Dench coming out winners on court two with a score of 7-5.

The doubles point came down to court three and the Lady Techsters prevailed as the seasoned tandem of Manoela Chiacchio and Taly Merker outlasted Joy Chia Ming Ming and Pippa Carr in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (5).

Playing at the No. 5 spot in singles, Chiacchio quickly gave LA Tech a 2-0 advantage in the match by dispatching Ana Perez, 6-0, 6-1. The Techsters then went up 3-0 as Jazmin Britos remained perfect in dual singles with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at the No. 1 position.

Bringing home the clincher was Chen who bested Yadira Rubio, 6-4, 7-5 from court three for her third straight singles win.

LA Tech returns to the courts on Saturday when they face off against Lamar at noon at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.
