LA Tech season stats
RUSTON ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬" Another match, another home shutout for Louisiana Tech as the Lady Techsters took down Lamar, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.
LA Tech (9-2) has played five games at home this season and has surrendered only one point while serving up four clean sheets.
"I was very proud of this team today," head coach Chad Camper said. "Lamar is a difficult team to play and we had to match and exceed their energy out on the courts. We had some great efforts from Taly who was tremendous in doubles and from Alexandra and Alba who were very efficient. Manoela brought us to the fourth point playing some clutch tennis at the end."
The Techsters set the tone early in doubles, sealing victories on court two with Marta Sramkova and Jazmin Britos winning 6-2 and on court three with Taly Merker and Manoela Chiacchio winning 6-1.
Fellow teammate Alba Escalona Perny made quick work of Teodora Stefanovic at the No. 5 position in singles, 6-2, 6-0 to up the team score to 2-0.
Following her was Alexandra Starkova claiming a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory herself from the No. 2 spot. The clincher came at No. 6 where Chiacchio won her fifth straight singles match with a 6-4, 7-5 dispatching of Stephanie Marchena.
The remaining three matches were stopped, two of which being in the third set.
LA Tech concludes its home stand on Tuesday when they take on in-state foe Louisiana-Lafayette. First serve is set for 12:30 p.m. at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.
