HOUSTON - Manonah Kiptum ran the ninth-fastest time in school history and a pair of Bulldogs posted personal best times as Louisiana Tech's distance runners competed at the Victor Lopez Classic late Friday.
Kiptum's 10,000m time of 31:28.15 ranks ninth in school history, an impressive feat for the freshman, as he finished second overall. He beat UT-Rio Grande Valley's Jose Wells by two seconds and was behind only Tulane's Moses Aloiloi.
In the 5,000m run a pair of Bulldogs posted career-best times. Logan Pearce ran 15:16.06 to finish 15th while Drake Heinz placed 27th in the race with a time of 15:37.85.
Tom Stringer posted a time of 4:00.99 in the 1,500m to finish sixth rounding out the small Bulldog contingent in Houston.
