LAS VEGAS -- Louisiana Tech's Dayon Griffin and Alex Hamilton combined to score 52 points, but the 2015-16 season came to an end as the Bulldogs fell to ETSU, 88-83, in the quarterfinals of the Vegas 16 Tournament on Monday night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

LA Tech (23-10) held a three-point advantage at halftime. However, Ge'Lawn Guyn of ETSU (24-11) put the Buccaneers on his back by scoring a game-high 34 points (23 coming in the second half).

"There are so many things that turn into the overall picture, but there is no question Ge'Lawn Guyn was dynamic tonight," head coach Eric Konkol said on the loss. "He made timely shots in a lot of different ways.

"I thought we improved as the year went on. We did not finish well to the regular season and these two tournaments. We need to improve on that in the future. I am proud of the guys."

The `Dogs were able to force 16 turnovers and turn that defense into offense to generate 21 fast break points. Where the team did not excel was at the foul line, making 17 on 30 attempts.

The savvy veteran Hamilton produced his usual stat line -- 23 points, eight rebounds and six assists. The senior finished just 14 points shy of 2,000 for his career, but did eclipse 500 assists to add another feat to his incredible four-year career.

The future was seen in the sophomore Griffin who registered a career-high 29 points, knocking down five three-pointers in the process. He also had seven rebounds and tied his career high with four steals.

"I told the players in the locker room that I will always remember this senior class because it was my first as a head coach," Konkol said. "I am very happy for Alex who has had a cherry on top to his career as conference player of the year and the all-time wins leader. He had another stat line that we saw throughout this season. He played 40 minutes. He will certainly be missed.

"There are so many young guys that gained experience this year. Dayon is a very good shooter. He improved at that this year. He has put in the work and he made five threes tonight. He also had seven rebounds. He has a chance to really grow and be a fine player."

The Bulldogs came out ice cold, putting up just 11 points on the scoreboard through the first 10 minutes of the game. After being down 22-11 at the midway point, the defense turned up to generate 30 points in the final 10 minutes to grab a 41-38 advantage at intermission.

The game was knotted up at 44-44 three minutes deep into the second, but Guyn knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to give the Bucs a six-point lead.

LA Tech would pull to within one on an Erik McCree three-pointer at the 9:57 mark, but it was Guyn again who hit back-to-back threes again to never allow the Bulldogs to regain the lead from there on.
