BASTROP, Texas - Ben Robinson fired an even-par 72 and recorded his first top-10 finish of the season as Louisiana Tech finished eighth as action wrapped up at the Jim West Intercollegiate in Bastrop, Texas on Tuesday.
Robinson, a senior from England who entered Tuesday in 15th place, finished 10th overall at 1-under-par (72-71-72=215) after an even-par final round that was bisected by a two-hour lightning delay. It marked his first top-10 finish of the season and the third in his career. Rice's Mitchell Meissner was the tournament medalist at 9-under-par 207 while Pavan Sagoo's card of 8-under-par placed the St. Mary's golfer second.
St. Mary's won the team title for the second consecutive year as the Gaels finished the tournament at 16-under-par 848 while McNeese State finished second at 5-under-par 859. Placing eighth at 24-over-par, Louisiana Tech finished three strokes ahead of Stephen F. Austin (+27).
Victor Lange finished tied for 15th overall at 2-over-par 71-71-76=218) after a 4-over-par final round as he dropped five spots, effectively flipping spots with Robinson.
Chuck Spears carded a 2-over-par Tuesday round to move up eight spots as he finished 55th at 13-over-par for the tournament. The senior shot 229 (80-75-74) while improving his score in each succeeding round.
Jacob Wyatt finished the tournament tied for 57th at 15-over-par (77-74-80=231) and Charles Neel White placed 65th at 18-over-par (75-77-82=234). Jake Pritchard, competing as an individual, placed 75th at 28-over-par (82-75-87=244).
The Bulldogs now turn their attention to the Conference USA Championship set for April 24-27 at Texarkana Country Club located on the Arkansas side of Texarkana.
