Sept. 12, 2016 RUSTON, La. - Coming off of a thrilling victory to cap the EIU Panther Classic, the Lady Techsters hit the floor at the Thomas Assembly Center for a 7 p.m. matchup with Jackson State tomorrow night.
This will mark the second meeting of the two schools so far this season as they met back on September 2 in the Tiger Invitational, with the Lady Techsters taking the match 3-0.
In that first match between the Lady Techsters and the Tigers, Jackson State had no answer for senior Angie Papach who recorded a game-high 12 kills, as well as five service aces. Marta Monne played in two sets in the match and posted a .312 attacking percentage to go along with seven kills. Alejandra Aviles led the defensive effort, recording 17 digs.
Jackson State is still looking for their first win of the season as they dropped three matches this past weekend at the Jacksonville State Invitational.
Louisiana Tech pulled out a five set victory in their last match over Eastern Illinois, dominating the final set to a tune of 15-2.
LA Tech senior Alejandra Aviles, who currently has 1,361, needs just 26 digs to move into third in Louisiana Tech history for digs in a career. Aviles has already registered 177 digs this season.
The Lady Techster attack continues to be led by Papach who has totaled a team-high 129 kills so far on the season. Alexa Lister leads the team in attacking percentage, posting an impressive .282 with 66 kills.
