LA Tech Set for Final Non-Conference Tournament

RUSTON, La. - As Louisiana Tech volleyball (6-5) enters their final weekend of non-conference play, a tall order awaits the Lady Techsters at the Tulsa Volleyball Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Techsters are coming off of back-to-back wins over Eastern Illinois and Jackson State. On Tuesday night in the Thomas Assembly Center LA Tech did not allow Jackson State to get to 16 points in a set, cruising to a three-set victory.

LA Tech opens up the tournament against in-state foe Northwestern State on Friday at 3 p.m. The Lady Demons have either won the Southland Conference Tournament or finished in the top three, three of the last four seasons. Northwestern State has already notched wins this season over Southeast Missouri, ULM, ULL and UAB out of Conference USA.

The Lady Demons are led by Alexis Warren who has totaled 110 kills this season, as well as Madeline Drake who leads the team with 34 blocks, an average of 0.81 per set.

Saturday's slate features a double-header for the Lady Techsters beginning at 9 a.m. with a match against Oral Roberts. The Golden Eagles enter the match with a 6-4 record which features a win against Conference USA-foe UTEP, back in August. Oral Roberts is led by Laura Milos who is averaging a stunning 5.91 kills a set.

The final match of the tournament will pit the Lady Techsters against host-Tulsa who has posted an 8-1 record to this point, including a five-set win over SEC power Alabama. The Golden

Hurricanes have two players who have registered over 100 kills this season in Erica Bohannon and Rebecca Reeve. Rachel Moore is averaging over a block a set, totaling 35 blocks on the season.
