RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech's home opener against Arkansas ââ'¬" Pine Bluff on Wednesday night could not have gone better if you were a Lady Techster, as LA Tech took the match in straight sets in front of 215 fans in the Thomas Assembly Center.
Louisiana Tech's 4-3 start is the programs best since the 2003 season.
The Lady Techsters were led by Angela Papach, who recorded a match-high 10 kills, while Brooke Short was instrumental in guiding the LA Tech attack with 22 assists.
Defensively, Alejandra Aviles recorded 10 digs, while Hannah Wright and Natalie Leui each recorded two blocks in the contest.
The Lady Techsters fell behind in the first set 13-11, but would go on to score 12 of the next 15 points to take the first set 25-16. The second set of the night was nothing short of pure domination as with the set tied at 6-6, Louisiana Tech would score 11 straight points and run away with the set 25-13.
In the final set Louisiana Tech used a 12-3 run to shut the door on the Lady Lions who could never seem to figure out an answer for the Lady Techsters outside hitters.
Louisiana Tech will hit the road tomorrow for a bus ride to Charleston, Illinois where they will kick off the Eastern Illinois Panther Classic at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
