MONROE ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬" The Louisiana Tech women's tennis team got things started off on the right note by winning the doubles point, but ULM was able to fight back to take the 5-2 win on Thursday afternoon at Heard Stadium.

LA Tech (7-7) got wins on courts one and three in dubs to take an early 1-0 lead. However, sophomore Sonia Chen became ill and was not able to play singles which forced a major shift in the lineup. ULM (7-1) was able to capitalize and get five singles victories to take the match.

Freshman Nadja Manjon and senior Marta Sramkova teamed up for just the second time this season and defeated the duo of Petra Horakova and Madalina Grigoriu by a score of 6-3 at No. 3.

The Warhawks responded with a win on court two, bringing it down to senior Jazmin Britos and junior Alba Escalona Perny who won 6-4 at No. 1 over Karolina Snita and Stefana Andrei.

With Chen being sick and sophomore Angela Lorenzo being out, the singles lineup was completely different. ULM ended up getting five straight-set wins with the clincher coming on court six.

The one singles point for the Lady Techsters came from Britos who downed Andrei 7-6, 3-6, 1-0 (10-4) for her team-leading ninth victory.

LA Tech returns to action tomorrow to take on Grambling State at home. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.
