NEW ORLEANS ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬" The Louisiana Tech women's tennis team opened the Conference USA match on Sunday afternoon by winning the doubles point, but Middle Tennessee rallied in singles to take the win 4-2 at the City Park Pepsi Tennis Center.

LA Tech (11-10, 1-1 C-USA) got up 1-0 by claiming wins on courts one and two in dubs. However, Middle Tennessee (8-12, 1-3 C-USA) countered in singles by taking the first set on all six courts.

The Lady Techsters battled back to take four of them into a deciding third set but could not pull off the league win.

The day got started with the duo of senior Jazmin Britos and junior Alba Escalona Perny winning 6-4 at the No. 1 spot over Sarah Sediri and Luisa Zirilli. It marked their team-leading seventh doubles victory of the spring.

The doubles point clincher later came at No. 2 where freshman Nadja Manjon and senior Marta Sramkova won their sixth straight, outlasting Lidia Burrows and Costanza Magazzini by a score of 7-5.

The Blue Raiders were able to take a 2-1 lead in the team match by pulling off straight-set wins on courts three and five.

With the rest of the four matches going into a third set, Manjon was able to tie it up at 2-2 by winning a marathon match at the No. 2 position with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory. It was singles win No. 12 for the Spanish native, tying for the team lead.

Middle Tennessee got the lead right back by claiming a victory on court four. Meanwhile, freshman Jill van den Dungen was in a third-set tiebreaker on court six when the Blue Raiders were able to clinch the match on court one.

Next up for LA Tech is a matchup against nationally-ranked TCU on Friday, April 7 in Fort Worth, Texas. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
