Bulldogs Bolster Front Court with Signing of Kyle McKinley

May 26, 2017

RUSTON - Louisiana Tech's front court received some more depth on Friday as head coach Eric Konkol announced the signing of junior college center Kyle McKinley.

McKinley, at 6-foot-10 and 220 pounds, redshirted his freshman year at the University of Albany and then transferred to Northeast Community College where he spent one season.

"We are thrilled that Kyle McKinley is joining our Louisiana Tech Bulldog family," Konkol said. "Kyle possesses the size, length and ability to make a positive impact in our program. He enjoys an up-tempo style, plays around the rim on both ends and continues to grow his offensive game. Most of all, Kyle comes from a terrific family and has been well coached. We look forward to Kyle representing LA Tech on and off the court."

This past season at Northeast, the Stillwater, Minnesota native saw action in all 31 games with 19 starts while helping the Hawks to a 21-10 overall record and a spot in the NJCAA Region XI semifinals.

McKinley averaged 8.3 points per game while shooting 56 percent from the field. He also registered 5.5 rebounds per game while also recording 59 total blocks which ranked 25th in the country.

He came on strong around the midway point of the season, scoring in double figures in 13 of his last 20 games. He was even stronger down the stretch in the final seven games, averaging 15 points which included a season-high 21 points in the season finale.

McKinley was a four-year letterwinner at Stillwater High School where he was a two-time All-Suburban East selection and was named all-state and a star Tribune Third Team pick as a senior.
