SAN ANTONIO ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬" Playing three matches in five days on the road to start the regular season was a big test facing the Louisiana Tech women's soccer team.

The Lady Techsters certainly passed that test. They ended up going undefeated, capped off by a 1-0 shutout victory over Incarnate Word on Tuesday night at Gayle & Tom Benson Stadium.

The LA Tech (2-0-1) defense allowed just one goal in the three matches combined. The back line cleared out six corner kicks by UIW (0-2) and goalkeeper Faith Washington provided the clean sheet in net. Meanwhile, sophomore striker Mylene Roy-Ouellet provided the game-winner in the 61st minute in San Antonio.

"The first half was a reflection of our tough schedule," head coach Kevin Sherry said. "We were flat, but this was our third game on the road in five days whereas Incarnate Word has been resting since their game Friday.

"UIW is a good team with a lot of speed. We made some adjustments at halftime to press higher up the field and we seemed to catch our second wind. We dug deep, found some energy and took advantage of a great opportunity created by Mylene."

Very few scoring opportunities occurred in the first half with the two teams registering just three shots apiece.

The Lady Techsters best chance came from freshman Gabrielle Parent in the 29th minute when she intercepted a pass at midfield, made a short run and then took a long-range shot. The opposing keeper was off her line but was able to recover to make the save.

In the 61st minute, the high pressure gave LA Tech a throw-in deep in its attacking third. Senior Haley Laque put the ball into the 18 where it was flicked by sophomore Jenna Dages to Roy-Ouellet. She controlled the ball perfectly, took a turn and beat the diving keeper for the goal.

It marked the first goal of the season for the junior from Canada and the 13th of her career (leads the team). She ended up with a team-high four shots as the two squads tied with nine shots each.

Four players ended up playing the full 90, including Laque, Au'Dresha Spates and Makenna Johnson on the backline and Stella Li in the midfield. Washington was credited with three saves.

LA Tech returns to Ruston on Thursday to face off against SEC foe Mississippi State in the home opener at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
