RUSTON – Louisiana Tech junior guard DaQuan Bracey was one of 11 players selected to the 2018-19 Preseason All-Conference USA Team while the Bulldogs were picked to finish sixth in the preseason coaches' poll, announced by the league office on Thursday.
 
After earning C-USA Freshman of the Year honors in 2016-17, Bracey was set to have another big year in 2017-18.  That was most certainly the case during non-conference play when he led LA Tech in minutes (29.3), points (16.0), assists (5.0) and steals (1.2) per game.
 
Included in that non-conference slate were 20+ scoring performances at No. 24 Alabama and at Texas, as well as being named the New Orleans Shootout Tournament MVP. 
 
The point guard then suffered a back injury in the C-USA opener and was never the same.  He was in and out of the lineup, missing a total of eight games in league play and playing sparingly in the other contests.
 
The Baltimore, Maryland native is healthy again and ready to help the Bulldogs improve upon their 17-16 record from a season ago. 
 
Joining him on the Preseason All-CUSA Team were Jon Davis (Charlotte), Jon Elmore (Marshall), C.J. Burks (Marshall), Roosevelt Smart (North Texas), Ahmad Caver (Old Dominion), B.J. Stith (Old Dominion), Zack Bryant (UAB), Jhivvan Jackson (UTSA), Taveion Hollingsworth (WKU) and Desean Murray (WKU).
 
WKU is picked to finish first in the preseason poll, followed by Marshall, Old Dominion, North Texas and Rice.  The rest of the poll behind LA Tech at No. 6 is Southern Miss, UAB, Middle Tennessee, FIU, UTEP, Florida Atlantic, Charlotte and Rice.
 
LA Tech will play a home exhibition on Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. versus Union and then open the regular season on Nov. 6 at Wichita State.
