HUNTSVILLE, Texas ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬" Sophomore Nadja Manjon and freshman Karla De La Luz Montalvo remained undefeated in singles, but that was all the points that Louisiana Tech could get on Friday afternoon as they fell 5-2 to Sam Houston State at the McAdams Tennis Center.

For the third dual match this spring, LA Tech (1-2) dug itself an early hole by losing the doubles point. Unlike in the previous match against ULL, the Lady Techsters were not able to make the comeback in singles.

After losing 6-1 on courts two and three in doubles, Sam Houston State (3-2) quickly increased its lead to 2-0 with a straight-sets win at the No. 1 spot in singles.

However, Montalvo responded at the No. 5 position with her third straight victory, a 6-2, 6-4 win over Rosalie Gerritsen.

It was not long after that though that the Bearkats were able to clinch the match with two more straight-set wins on courts three and six.

The final match on court was been Manjon and SHSU's Khee Yee Wee at the No. 2 position. Manjon was able to prevail after being bumped up one spot in the lineup, winning 7-5, 6-1 to extend her winning streak to three matches just like Montalvo.

LA Tech returns to action on Monday, Feb. 12 when they take on McNeese State in Lake Charles. The match was previously rained out. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m.
