HOUSTON ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬" The Louisiana Tech women's tennis team ran into a hot Houston squad on the road, falling 4-0 to the Cougars on Saturday afternoon at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.

LA Tech (5-7) dropped the doubles point with losses at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Then Houston (16-2), who remained undefeated at home with an 11-0 mark, added to that point with three more in singles on courts one, two and six.

It was the duo of No 91-ranked Tesveta Dimitrova and Sveva Mazzari, who came into the dual match with a combined singles record of 29-2, at the top of the lineup that gave UH two of their points. The third came from the bottom of the lineup at the No. 6 spot.

The Lady Techsters were battling on the remaining three courts when they were stopped due to the match being clinched. Sophomore Nadja Manjon was fighting on court three to try to force a third set on court two against Lauren Alter.

On court five, senior Angela Lorenzo (former Houston Cougar) was doing the same versus Constandena Nicolau, up 3-1 in the second set after dropping the first set 6-1.

Then on court four, junior Sonia Chen was only three games away from extending her singles winning streak to eight as she led Alison Mills 6-2, 3-2.

LA Tech returns to the courts on Sunday when they take on Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
