IRVING, Texas - Louisiana Tech track and field student-athlete Morgan Keesee has been named the University's recipient of the Conference USA Spirit of Service Award for the winter, it was announced by the league office on Friday.

Conference USA's Spirit of Service Award is presented three times throughout the season and is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes. The award is based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport.

Keesee, who is currently in her senior season with the Lady Techsters, competes in the throwing events during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, including the weight throw, discus and hammer. She is one of 14 student-athletes from each of the league members to earn the honor. The winter Spirit of Service Award honorees represent the following sports: men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field, rifle and men's and women's swimming.

A four-year letterwinner for the Lady Techsters, Keesee has impressed in the classroom during her time in Ruston. The Parkville, Missouri, native maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA in Kinesiology & Health Promotion, while she is a three-time C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medalist and three-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. Keesee has also been named to LA Tech's AD Honor Roll twice.

On the playing fields, Keesee ranks in the top 10 in Louisiana Tech history in the women's weight throw (indoor season) and the hammer throw (outdoor season).

Keesee, who is a member of LA Tech's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), serves the Ruston community in a variety of ways, including as a volunteer for disaster relief and clothing/food drives, the Special Olympics, the DART Pumpkin Patch, the Dogs with a Cause reading program and the St. Jude Radiothon.
