May 11, 2018 RUSTON, La. ââ'¬" Louisiana Tech sophomore Kimmie Atienza was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Softball Team, CoSIDA announced Thursday. The organization celebrates the nation's top players for their efforts on the field and in the classroom.
Atienza boasts a 3.64 grade point average in computer science at Louisiana Tech. She is a two-time Conference USA Commissoner's Honor Roll honoree and was a C-USA Academic Medalist as a freshman.
On the field, Atienza is batting .303 with four home runs, 31 runs and 12 RBI. She ranks among the LA Tech team leaders in runs, walks, batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage.
Atienza was one of six Conference USA players to earn the honor, joining Morgan McElroy (WKU), Haley Pace (Charlotte), Bailey Rhoney (Charlotte), Kacey Duffield (UTEP) and Bailee Baldwin (UTSA).
