MOBILE, Ala. – The Louisiana Tech volleyball team closed out action at the Jaguar Invitational with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 24-26, 25-20) loss to the host South Alabama Jaguars on Saturday afternoon from Jag Gym on the campus of South Alabama.

The Lady Techsters (2-8) trailed two sets to none, and faced an uphill battle early on, but delivered a clutch third set triumph to take the match to four.

The contest saw a bit of a momentum swing in the third set, when Tech came out as the aggressive team and took its first lead of the match at 6-5. The lead change took place in the middle of a run that saw Tech take seven of 10 points, culminating in an 11-7 lead. The Jaguars clawed back to within one point several times, and eventually tied the match late at 23 all. A pair of kills from freshmen
Jordyn Carswell and
Lara Hendricks, paired with a South Alabama attack error gave the Techsters the third set, 26-24.

After avoiding the sweep, Tech now turned its attention to evening up the match at two sets. However, with a 6-5 lead, South Alabama utilized a 5-1 run to extend its edge to 10-6. Tech made some progress late, and chipped into the deficit, drawing as close as two at 19-17, but the Jaguars ended the set taking six of the final nine points, and claimed the match.

Freshman
Jordyn Carswell once again led Tech offensively with 12 kills. She also tallied a team-high 13 digs for her first double-double of the season. For her efforts over the weekend, Carswell was named to the Jaguar Invitational All-Tournament Team after she tallied 28 kills, 21 digs and four total blocks throughout the course of Tech's three matches.

Junior
Kaitlyn Adams posted 10 kills, while Hendricks added seven of her own. Defensive specialists,
Morgan Currie and
Alyssa Zucco combined for 23 of Tech's 60 digs. Tech's freshman setter combo of
Mia Prostran and
Abigail Hildenbrand tallied 34 assists together.

Tech will return to the court on Tuesday evening in its home opener against Jackson State. First serve is set for 7 p.m. from the Thomas Assembly Center.
