LA Tech Goes 1-2 at Hurricane Invite

Defeated Oral Roberts 5-1 to close out event

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 TULSA, Oklahoma – After suffering losses to No. 22 Tulsa and Wyoming, the Louisiana Tech women's tennis team finished out the Hurricane Invite strong with a 5-1 victory over Oral Roberts in the season-opening weekend of the spring season at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
 
LA Tech (1-2) fell 7-0 to the nationally-ranked host Tulsa (3-0) and to Wyoming (2-1) with the lone win coming from the doubles duo of Sonia Chen and Claudia Oravcova who won 6-3 on court two versus the Cowgirls. 
 
The Lady Techsters then took on Oral Roberts (0-3) in the final dual of the event and grabbed the doubles point as well as four victories in singles.
 
Chen and Oravcova continued their winning ways on the doubles court with a convincing 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot over Flavia Balcazar and Jovana Antonijevic.  The combo of Andrea Perez-Lopez and Leonie Nutz matched that winning score of 6-1 at the No. 3 position over Andrea Vasiljevic and Valentina Gisbert.
 
Chen helped deliver the second point for the Lady Techsters after shutting out her opponent 6-0, 6-0 on court two.  Ana Jover followed, grabbing her first collegiate victory in dual singles, with a 6-4, 6-1 win versus Antonijevic on court three. 
 
The clinching point came next from Nadja Manjon who took down Gorana Kadijevic in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 on court one.  Perez-Lopez provided an insurance point at the No. 4 position, outlasting Ceijenia Cornelius 7-6, 6-4.
 
LA Tech will have three weeks off before they return to the courts, taking on in-state foe Louisiana-Lafayette on Feb. 3 in the 2019 home opener at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.  First serve is set for 11 a.m.
