NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Louisiana Tech Track & Field spent the weekend competing at the Vanderbilt Indoor Invitational where the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters finished with several top 10 finishes over the course of two days in Nashville.

As a whole, Louisiana Tech notched eight top-five finishes and 13 marks that ranked in the top 10 in both field and running events.

The Bulldogs had three top-10 finishes in running events on Saturday, led by
Ahmad Young who placed fourth in the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.10. LA Tech's men also came in third in the 4,000m distance medley relay with a time of 10:21.49 and finished eighth in the 4x400m relay after posting a time of 3:15.89.

LA Tech's women also had a pair of top 10 finishes in the track events. The Lady Techsters combined for a time of 3:51.07 to finish seventh in the women's 4x400m relay. Individually, LA Tech's
Elia Nero notched a 10th place finish in the women's 800m run with a final time of 2:13.55 in the event, which also ranks eighth in school history.

The men's pole vault saw
Cole Courtois finish in fifth place with a mark of 16-2.75 (4.95m), which ranks third in Louisiana Tech history.
Andrew Spellman also competed in the pole vault and placed 11th with a mark of 14-9 (4.50m), while
Monique Apuakehau finished 15th in the women's pole vault with a mark of 11-7.25 (3.54m).

LA Tech's
Denzel Harper led the way in the men's long jump after finishing in third place with a season-best jump of 25-2 (7.67m) to move into seventh place in school history. As for the women,
Melody Korie recorded a long jump of 20-1.5 (6.13m) to finish in fifth place in the event.

The Lady Techsters had two top 10 finishes in the women's triple jump, led by
Jada Branch in fourth place with a mark of 40-3.5 (12.28m).
Leah Scott followed close behind in sixth place with a jump of 39-6.5 (12.05m), while
Caleb Clark represented the Bulldogs in the men's triple jump by finishing in fifth place with a mark of 49-4.25 (15.04m). In the women's high jump,
Sydney Anderson tied for ninth place with a jump of 5-5 (1.65m) on the weekend.

In the women's weight throw, Louisiana Tech's
Liza Wall recorded a throw of 58-10 (17.93m), a mark that ranks third in Lady Techster history, to finish the event in 12th place. On the men's side
Malek Evans placed fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 59-7.5 (18.17m).

The Bulldogs and Lady Techsters return to action next Sunday on Jan. 27 when the two squads make the trip to Birmingham, Alabama, to compete in the UAB Invitational at the CrossPlex.
