First 300 fans will receive a free Blue-Out t-shirt
RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech will host Florida Atlantic in Conference USA action Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center in the Lady Techster Blue Out game sponsored by Origin Bank.
The first 300 fans through the Thomas Assembly Center doors will get a free Blue Out t-shirt and discounted tickets are available for only $8 for both the 100 and 200 levels. It will also be Boy Band Night as the LA Tech marketing department will be playing the best songs from that era.
The contest can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on KNBB 97.7 FM and KJVC 92.7 FM with the pregame show slated to start at 6 p.m. Fans can also access a live video stream through a paid subscription to CUSATV.com.
The Lady Techsters are coming off a two-game road trip that saw them drop a pair of close games, falling 90-88 in triple overtime at Marshall and 81-76 at WKU. Tech (10-11, 2-6 C-USA) is midway through C-USA play and has three straight at home over the next two weeks.
"We aren't happy with being 2-6 but all we know to do is keep working hard and dig ourselves out one game at a time," said Tech head coach Brooke Stoehr. "We are glad to be back at home in front of our fans.
"Florida Atlantic has almost an entirely new roster. They are a very young basketball team. They had a good win over FIU in their only game last week. They are athletic and we know the game will be another challenge for us."
Florida Atlantic (4-16, 1-6) picked up its first league win of the season with a 77-55 victory over in-state rival FIU Saturday in Boca Raton, snapping an 11-game losing streak that dated back to a win over Siena on Dec. 1.
The Owls have struggled offensively this season, averaging just 59.5 points per game and shooting just 37 percent from the field and 28 percent from the three-point line. They are averaging almost 20 turnovers a game.
Juliette Gauthier is the lone Owl averaging double figures (10.1 ppg) although Myka Matthews (9.0 ppg) and Amber Gaston (8.1 ppg) are close to the mark.
Louisiana Tech also struggled offensively through the first five Conference USA games, averaging just 55.0 points per game. However, Tech has found its offensive rhythm over the past three games, averaging 84.0 points and shooting 45 percent from the field.
In addition to Kierra Anthony's continued assault on the scoring column (23.7 ppg), Amber Dixon and Raizel Guinto have picked up their averages during the past three games as well. Guinto scored 33 points (16.5 ppg) during the past two-game road trip, after scoring just 12 points in the first six league games. Dixon has hit double figures in four of the last six games, averaging 13.2 points during that span of games.
Tech leads the all-time series against Florida Atlantic 6-1, although the Owls defeated the Lady Techsters 86-72 in Boca Raton last year.
