MONROE, La. – The Louisiana Tech volleyball team won their second I-20 showdown of the season, sweeping ULM (26-24, 25-21, 25-19) in LA Tech's non-conference finale.
Madeline Davis led the Lady Techsters on Tuesday, posting 11 kills while hitting .429.
Carter Mirich and
Elena Takova added seven kills apiece with both hitting over .400.
Alyssa Zucco led Tech defensively with ten digs.
"We knew this week would be big for us, starting with UAB before a quick turnaround to a ULM team that we knew would play well at home," said LA Tech head coach
Amber McCray. "We had some huge contributions off the bench today from
Carter Mirich and
Elena Takova. Our team continues to prove that all of our players can step up at any moment and be the reason we win."
The Lady Techsters struggled in the first set, hitting just .163, but took advantage of Warhawk mistakes to pull out the win. Tech jumped out to 11-7 and 15-10 leads thanks to kills from Davis, but ULM countered with a run late in the set. The Warhawks took a 24-23 lead before an
Emily Boylan block gave the Lady Techsters momentum and propelled them to a 26-24 win.
"I felt like we got off to a pretty good start before getting complacent after we had a big lead," said McCray. "Our errors let them back in the first set, so we just reminded the team to stay keyed in for our second set
Tech heeded that reminder in the second set, dominating throughout a 25-20 win. The Lady Techsters hit .577 and put together their first set of the season without an attacking error. Takova led the team with four kills in the frame and

LA Tech closed out the sweep with a commanding 25-19 win in the third set. Mirich led the way with four kills and
