MBB Practice No. 13 – Intrasquad Scrimmage

12 Bulldogs participated in the intrasquad scrimmage
RUSTON – The quote of the day for practice No. 13 for the Louisiana Tech men's basketball team was, "Play hard, play smart, play together."
It was a special practice for the Bulldogs as 12 players participated in an intrasquad scrimmage, playing a full 20-minute half and two four-minute periods working on late-game situations.
For head coach Eric Konkol and his staff, the scrimmage provided a lot of great information as LA Tech is three weeks away from its Hoops 4 Disaster Relief exhibition game against LSU inside the Thomas Assembly Center on Karl Malone Court. The regular season tips off four days after that on Nov. 6.
"It was really good to get this type of information," said Konkol. "I liked how competitive the guys were. They certainly got after it today.
"I think there are a lot of different combinations we could play together. And then of course, there are a lot of different things we've got to get better at like guarding without fouling and execution. But, those are the things you expect to get better at."
In order to get better, you have to play hard, play smart and play together.
"It has to start with effort which is something you can control," said Konkol. "Having guys play really hard and play smart. We've got to keep getting better at the execution and keep getting better at certain things we are trying to do."
There are plenty of events coming up as the 2019-20 season gets closer. The fourth annual Dinner with the Dogs is set for Oct. 24 where fans will get to meet and dine with the 'Dogs as well as hear from Konkol and guest speaker Tim Floyd. Registration can be done online at www.latechalumni.org/dwtd.
The morning of Nov. 2, Konkol and LSU head coach Will Wade will take part in Brunch with the Coaches. All proceeds from the social event, as well as the exhibition game later that day, will go directly to the University Disaster Relief fund. Fans can go to www.latechalumni.org to tickets to the social event.
Season tickets and individual tickets for the Bulldogs-Tigers matchup are on sale and can be purchased at LATechSports.com/tickets or by calling (318) 257-3631. Season tickets have been reduced by as much as 67 percent over last year in some cases with a reduction of no less than 15 percent on all packages.
