RUSTON, La. - For the second straight week, the Louisiana Tech offense made waves around the state, as
J'Mar Smith picked up LSWA Offensive Player of the Week honors for the Bulldogs after his performance in the team's win over UTEP last Saturday.
Smith's honor comes on the heels of teammate
Malik Stanley, who was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week in the state last week.
Smith led the Bulldogs to their best start in C-USA in 2014 (4-0). In his 34th career start under center, Smith went 29-for-35 for 338 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. It was the 10th time in the senior's career to throw for over 300 yards in a single game, tying Colby Cameron for third most in program history.
His six incompletions were the fewest ever for Smith while starting for the Bulldogs. He connected with eight different receivers, and began the game vs. the Miners with 13 consecutive completions.
For the season, Smith ranks second in C-USA in. total offense, churning out an average of 300.2 yards per contest. His passer efficiency rating of 150.5 is 4th best in the league.
Smith's 2,220 passing yards ranks 12th most among FBS leaders in 2019.
Tech leads all offenses in C-USA, averaging 36.4 points per game and 471.2 yards per contest.
