LA Tech Faces Big Ten Foe Indiana

Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT on Monday

RUSTON – After picking up back-to-back home wins, the Louisiana Tech men's basketball team heads back out on the road to take on Big Ten foe Indiana on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. CT inside historic Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

The matchup will be televised on the Big Ten Network with Kevin Kugler and Shon Morris calling the action.  Fans can also listen to the "Voice of the Bulldogs" Dave Nitz call the game through the LA Tech Sports Network on KXKZ 107.5 FM (Ruston), KOKA 93.3 FM/980 AM (Shreveport), KJVC 92.7 FM (Mansfield) as well as on the LA Tech Athletics app.

LA Tech (4-1) remained undefeated at home on the early season, running away with an 82-61 victory over North Alabama in the first ever meeting between the two programs this past Friday.

The Bulldogs got off to a slow start, down by nine with nine minutes to go in the first half, but they would step on the gas and outscore the Lions, 69-39, the rest of the way.

One of the main seasons the 'Dogs pulled out the victory was having a +12 turnover margin.  As a result, they attempted 22 more shots than the Lions.  LA Tech currently ranks 12th in the country in turnover margin (+8.2) and is averaging 21.4 points off turnovers per game this season.

Mubarak Muhammed led the way with a career-high 18 points to go along with 12 rebounds.  It marked his second double-double of the season which he got by halftime.  Over the last four games, the senior forward is averaging 11.8 rebounds per game.

LA Tech has held four of its first five opponents to 61 points or less this season.  The Bulldogs currently rank 20th in the country in scoring defense (57.4) and 17th in field goal percentage defense (34.9).

Their defense was certainly be tested on Monday against an undefeated Indiana (5-0) team who has been dominant this season, winning all five games by double-digit points with a scoring margin of 26.6.  All five victories have come at home, including their most recent 79-54 win over Princeton.

The Hoosiers currently rank fourth in the country in scoring offense, averaging 90.6 points per contest, and they also rank fourth in field goal percentage, shooting a 54.0 clip from the field.

They have four players averaging double-digit points with three of those shooting at least 60 percent from the field.  They are led by forward Justin Smith with an average of 15.8 points per game, followed closely by guard Aljami Durham with 14.6 points per game.

This will mark the third ever meeting between LA Tech and Indiana.  The Bulldogs have lost each meeting which both came in the Indiana Classic, in 1985 and 1996.  They have played three Big Ten teams over the last decade, including a win over Ohio State in 2015.
