Â
LA Tech (18-10, 8-7 C-USA) is riding a three-game winning streak and remains undefeated at home this season following a 66-53 victory over North Texas to open up bonus play this past Saturday.
Â
Facing their largest halftime deficit of the season at 34-20, the Bulldogs outscored the Mean Green 46-19 in the second half to pull off their largest comeback win in eight years and the largest versus a league opponent in 15 years.
Â
DaQuan Bracey continued his stellar play, scoring a game-high 16 points which helped him eclipse 1,000 career points (41st player in program history to do so). He has now scored in double figures in 20 of the last 21 games and is averaging 18.9 points per game over the last eight contests.Â
Â
His defense was just as impressive, posting a career-high seven rebounds as well as a career-high six steals. As a team, the Bulldogs forced 21 turnovers (scoring 25 points off those TOs) and registered a season-best 10 steals.
Â
Mubarak Muhammed produced another solid outing off the bench, recording eight points and a team-high nine rebounds (five offensive). He is averaging 7.8 boards per game over the last five contests and currently leads the team in total offensive rebounds for the season with 66.     Â
Â
LA Tech continues to have the No. 1 scoring defense in conference play, allowing just 63.3 points per game. In league games at home, the 'Dogs are only allowing 59.0 points per game.Â
Â
After having a bye for the first day of pod play, Marshall (14-13, 7-7 C-USA) will be seeing action for the first time in 12 days which was when they snapped its four-game losing streak with a 98-93 victory over Middle Tennessee in Huntington.Â
Â
After starting league play 5-0, the Thundering Herd have lost seven of their last nine games.Â
Â
Marshall is still as high octane as they come on offense, averaging 79.5 points per game which ranks second in C-USA. Much of that damage is done from beyond the arc where they have totaled a league-best 253 made threes while averaging 9.4 per game.
Â
Even though the Herd give up the most points of any team in the conference, they can protect the rim (average 4.8 blocks per game) and pressure the basketball (average 9.4 steals per game).
Â
LA Tech and Marshall will meet for the 10th time ever and the second time this season. It was certainly an entertaining game in Ruston back on Jan. 24. The Bulldogs led for 38:32 minutes of regulation, but needed a game-tying layup by Bracey with only seconds remaining to force OT and ultimately outscore the Herd 17-8 in the extra five minutes to grab the win.
