STARKVILLE, Miss. – Louisiana Tech Track & Field completed action at the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays on Saturday evening while notching 25 top 10 performances over the weekend at the Mike Sanders Track Complex in Starkville, Mississippi.
During the two-day event, Louisiana Tech's men and women recorded 13 marks that ranked in the top five, including a first place finish by
Denzel Harper, who won the men's long jump competition with a mark of 24-9.25 (7.55m).
In addition to Harper's first place jump, the Bulldogs were also paced by
Jon Burrell, who posted a new personal record in the men's javelin competition with a mark of 197-3 (60.13m) to finish eighth on the day.
In the pole vault, the Lady Techsters were led by
Monique Apuakehau, who placed second in the event with a mark of 11-11.75 (3.65m). On the men's side,
Cole Courtois matched that with a second place mark of 16-6.75 (5.05m).
"We were able to produce some good performances today in Starkville," head coach
Gary Stanley said following the meet. "We are now looking forward to competing in one of the best meets in the country next weekend in Austin."
