Bracey Earns All-Louisiana Accolades

Named to second team after leading Bulldogs in scoring

RUSTON – After leading the Louisiana Tech men's basketball team in points, assists and steals this past season, junior DaQuan Bracey was named Second Team All-Louisiana by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

Bracey played in 31 games with 27 starts, missing two early contests due to an ankle injury in the season opener when he scored 16 points while helping the Bulldogs to an upset win at Wichita State.

He ended up scoring 480 total points for a scoring average of 15.5 points per game which ranked 11th in Conference USA.  He recorded 26 double-digit scoring games, 25 of those coming in the final 26 games of the season.

The Baltimore, Maryland native led the squad in scoring in 17 games, posting nine 20+ scoring performances, in route to becoming the 41st member of the 1,000-point club at LA Tech.

Some of his highlight performances included a 25-point effort on 10-of-22 shooting in a win over defending league tournament champion Marshall, making the game-tying layup with seconds remaining to force overtime.

The point guard also went off for a career-high 28 points against UTEP, had 26 points in the second meeting versus Marshall and notched 17 points in the comeback win over Florida Atlantic in the first round of the C-USA Tournament.

Bracey also distributed the basketball quite frequently, totaling 124 assists for an average of 4.0 dimes per game, ranking sixth in the league.  He had 11 games with five or more assists while producing a 1.9 assist/turnover ratio, ultimately eclipsing 400 career assists late in the season.

He also played arguably the best defense of his career in 2018-19, anchoring the team with a total of 40 steals.  Six of those came in a single game against North Texas, a new career high.

Joining Bracey on the five-person second team were Caleb Daniels (Tulane), Ishmael Lane (Northwestern State), Skylar Mays (LSU) and Naz Reid (LSU).

He becomes the 33rd player in program history named All-LSWA.  It also marks the 22nd consecutive year at least one Bulldog has earned All-LSWA accolades.
