Techsters play final midweek game of the season
RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech will play its final midweek game of the season Wednesday when the Lady Techsters host No. 8 UL-Lafayette at 6 p.m. at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
Tech (36-12) and UL-Lafayette (42-4) meet for the first time since 2016 and the first meeting in Ruston since 2008. The Ragin' Cajuns will be the highest ranked team to play in Ruston since No. 5 LSU played here in 2016.
Admission is free. UL-Lafayette leads the all-time series 48-30. The Ragin' Cajuns enter the game on a 19-game winning streak which dates back to a March 20 loss to McNeese State.
The Lady Techsters are 15-4 at home this season and will host C-USA leader WKU this weekend for Senior Weekend in Ruston on Saturday and Sunday. Tech is coming off a weekend that saw it drop two out of three on the road at Marshall.
Offensively, Tech has scored 314 runs this season and needs just three more to break the program single season record of 316 set in 2017. The Lady Techsters are paced by five regulars batting over .300, including Morgan Turkoly (.385, 59 runs, 25-27 SB), Kimmie Atienza (.372, 41 runs, 23-24 SB), Lindsay Edwards (.369, 9 doubles, 33 RBI), Jazlyn Crowder (.368, 8 HR, 46 RBI, 19-20 SB) and Bayli Simon (.311, 4 HR, 23 RBI).
Tech will face a UL-Lafayette staff that is led by Summer Ellyson (29-4, 1.06 ERA) who has recorded 258 strikeouts in 199 innings of work in the circle. ULL has a team staff ERA of 1.48.
The Ragin' Cajuns are known for their offense as well, having scoring 341 runs this season and boasting a team batting average of .348. ULL has stolen 146 bases on the year and has 55 home runs.
ULL is led offensively by Oklahoma transfer Alissa Dalton (.411, 42 runs), Northwestern State transfer Julie Rawls (.385, 10 HR, 46 RBI), Texas A&M transfer Sarah Hudek (.364, 10 HR, 35 RBI), Toledo transfer Bailey Curry (.356, 6 HR, 34 RBI) and Texas A&M transfer Keeli Milligan (.348, 54-59 SB).
Tech will turn to a pitching staff led by Krystal De La Cruz (13-3, 2.53 ERA) and Preslee Gallaway (14-7, 3.13 ERA).
