NASHVILLE (Jan. 18, 2020) – The Louisiana Tech men's and women's indoor track teams wrapped up action at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Saturday evening, highlighted by several lifetime bests across the board for the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters.
"We had a pretty good meet on the men's side and a decent women's showing this weekend," head coach
Gary Stanley commented. "I was proud of both of the teams and the efforts, and the assistant coaches again did a wonderful job."
One of the highlights of the weekend came in the finals of the men's 60m hurdles, where
Ahmad Young (8.02), Xavier Bishop-Falu (8.12) and
Nolan Walker (8.23) placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the men's field events,
Denzel Harper placed fourth in the long jump (7.59m), besting his mark from a week ago at UAB. Teammate
Murphy Bavinga placed fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 15.07m.
On the women's side,
Leah Scott (12.24m) and Dominique Anderson (12.24m) finished in seventh and eighth, respectively, while
Taylor Shaw finished eighth in the women's 200m (24.69).
In the men's 400, both
Seth Boullion (48.51) and Chris Robinson (47.96) posted lifetime bests, as Robinson finished fifth and Bouillon seventh.
To wrap up the action, the men's 4x400 team finished third, just off pace of a program record, but was disqualified on a borderline call at the finish line.
After spending the past two weekends in action, the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters will regroup before their next indoor test at the Houston G5 and Mid-Major Invitational on Saturday, February 1.
