Â
LA Tech (13-5, 4-2 C-USA) suffered its first home loss of the season this past Saturday, falling 51-50 to the Mean Green. One of the reasons for the defeat was the uncharacteristic 17 turnovers committed by the Bulldogs with 12 of those coming in the first half alone.
Â
The bright spot offensively was
Amorie Archibald who totaled a game-high 17 points while draining five three-pointers, the sixth time in his career he has hit five or more in a single game.
Â
The junior guard is averaging 11.3 points per game. Other Bulldogs averaging double-figures in scoring are
DaQuan Bracey (12.4) and
Kalob Ledoux (12.1).
Â
LA Tech continues to lead C-USA in several categories, including scoring defense, giving up just 60.7 points per game. Through six league games, only one opponent has scored more than 61 points on the Bulldogs.  Â
Â
Middle Tennessee (4-15, 0-6 C-USA) registered its 10th straight loss this past Saturday, falling 83-69 at FIU. The Blue Raiders have lost all six conference games, but four of those have been by 10 points or less, including an overtime loss at Florida Atlantic.
Â
They are one of the better three-point shooting teams in the conference with a 34.4 percent clip from beyond the arc. They have three players who have made at least 35 threes this season.
Â
Guard C.J. Jones is the leader offensively for the Blue Raiders, averaging 16.3 points per game. He has made 48 three-pointers this season, starting all 19 games, while recording eight 20+ scoring performances.
Â
LA Tech leads the all-time series, 12-5. Since the two teams became league foes in C-USA, the Bulldogs own a 5-3 edge. However, LA Tech has lost two straight in the Murphy Center with the last victory coming in 2015.
