RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech Soccer team returns to the pitch for the second time this fall, playing at Abilene Christian on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Elmer Gray Stadium.
Â
LA Tech (0-1) aims to get into the win column after suffering a 2-0 loss in its opening match at UL-Lafayette a week ago.Â
Â
The Lady Techsters ended up taking twice as many shots as the Ragin' Cajuns. They totaled 10 shots, but only the last two in the final minutes came on goal.Â
Â
Nineteen different players saw action in the season opener with
Josie Studer,
Elizabeth Doll,
Alma Cedefors and
Tomoyo Kuroyanagi going the distance.Â
Â
Afrah Khan and
Sophie Fijneman led the way with two shots apiece. In net,
Tuva Sallvin and
Christina Hjelvik split time with each playing one period.Â
Â
Meanwhile, Abilene Christian (2-1-1) will be playing in its fifth match this season. The Wildcats are coming off its first shutout of the season after a 1-0 win over Angelo State two weeks ago.Â
Â
ACU opened the year with a loss at ULL. They have also tied Stephen F. Austin and defeated Texas State, 3-2, in overtime.Â
Â
LA Tech and Abilene Christian will meet for the very first time on the soccer field. The Southland Conference, just like Conference USA, moved its conference regular season to the spring.Â
