RUSTON – Savvy veterans JaColby Pemberton, Amorie Archibald and Exavian Christon were named as team captains for the 2020-21 Bulldog Basketball Team, as voted on by the players. 

All three have invested over four years into the program with Pemberton being a fifth-year redshirt senior and Archibald and Christon entering their fourth year as true seniors. 

Pemberton has played in 81 career games, including 39 starts.  He ranked second on the team in rebounding last season with an average of 4.5 boards per game and has a team-high five career double-doubles.

"It's an honor to be voted captain because that shows the trust and accountability within my teammates on and off the court," said Pemberton.
 
Archibald brings the most playing experience in the lineup, having been a part of 90 career games with 74 starts.  He ranked third on the squad in scoring last season with an average of 11.3 points per game and leads all returners in career points (889) and career assists (284).

"A leader is someone who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way," said Archibald.  "That's how I view a leader to be and that's how I hope to be as a team captain."

While Pemberton and Archibald were voted as team captains for the first time, this marks the third straight year Christon has been voted as one.  He has seen action in 56 career games while making 10 starts. 

"To be voted captain a third straight year is unbelievable," said Christon.  "After everything that's happened to me personally, I didn't know if I'd even be in the position to be on the team.  But now, we are here and to see that the guys trust me to be one of their captains gives me great confidence.  I want to return the favor and do my best to lead them to all of our goals this year."
 
LA Tech opens the season in one week on Friday, Nov. 27 versus UT Arlington as part of the Louisiana Tech Classic presented by Hampton Inn of Ruston.  Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. inside the Thomas Assembly Center on Karl Malone Court.
