RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech will close out the non-conference portion of its schedule on Sunday when the Lady Techsters host UL-Lafayette at 2 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center.
The contest will be televised on Cox Sports Television with Lyn Rollins and former Lady Techsters Katie Hall calling the game and will also be available through ESPN+. The game can be heard through the Louisiana Tech Radio Network on KNBB 99.3 FM and through the Louisiana Tech Athletics mobile app.
Tech (4-1) improved to 4-0 at home this season following its 63-45 win over ULM Thursday night in a game that saw the Lady Techsters prevail despite a tough night shooting the basketball.
UL-Lafayette (1-3) is coming off an 83-51 loss to defending Conference USA champion Rice in Houston Wednesday. However, the Ragin' Cajuns almost pulled out a victory in Baton Rouge against LSU in its previous game prior to Rice.
"It will be a tough game," said LA Tech head coach Brooke Stoehr. "Gary (Brodhead) does a great job with them, and they went to LSU and lost by five and really had opportunities to win the game. They get to the free throw line a lot.
"We're going to have to be better on the ball than we were (against ULM) and do a much better job defensively. We've also got to knock down shots. They're going to get up on us and guard us."
It will be the 43rd meeting between the Lady Techsters and the Ragin' Cajuns with LA Tech leading the series 40-2, including a 21-0 mark in games played in Ruston. The two program's haven't met in four years with UL-Lafayette prevailing 80-72 in the Cajun Dome on Dec. 22, 2016.
Both teams have been successful in getting to the free throw line this season. LA Tech has attempted 123 free throws in five games, making more (88) than its opponent has attempted (70). UL-Lafayette has attempted 95 free throws in four games, making more (73) than its opponents have attempted (69).
Keiunna Walker (15.4 ppg), Bre Harris (13.3 ppg) and Anna Larr Roberson (11.2 ppg) lead Louisiana Tech offensively this season as the Lady Techsters are averaging 72.4 points per game.
Brandi Williams (13.3 ppg), Makayia Hallman (11.0 ppg), Ty'Reona Doucet (10.0 ppg) and Skyler Goodwin (9.8 ppg) lead the Ragin' Cajuns offensively.
