Â
LA Tech (6-2) dominated Lamar from the tip this past Saturday, winning 86-57 in the TAC. The Bulldogs scored the first 12 points of the game and never looked back as the team had a sizeable 48-23 halftime lead over the Cardinals that was never threatened.Â
Â
The 57 points was the fewest allowed by Tech this season. Over the last three games, opponents are averaging just 58.7 points per game while shooting 35.7 percent from the field and 19.3 percent from deep.
Â
For the second time this season, there were five Bulldogs who scored in double-figures –
Amorie Archibald (14),
Isaiah Crawford (13),
JaColby Pemberton (12),
Kenneth Lofton, Jr. (11) and
Kalob Ledoux (10).
Â
Lofton, Jr. was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week for a second time. In the game against the Cardinals, he added seven rebounds, a career-high four assists and a career-tying three steals.
Â
The forward currently ranks second on the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 10.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Ledoux continues the pace the team offensively with an average of 14.6 points. Meanwhile, Pemberton leads the team in rebounding with 7.6 boards per contest.
Â
LA Tech and ULM (2-4) will be playing for a second time this season, marking the first time since 2012 that the Bulldogs will face a non-conference opponent twice during the same regular season.Â
Â
Pemberton and Lofton, Jr. both recorded double-doubles in the 78-62 victory over the Warhawks in Ruston back on Dec. 3 which was the first game of the season for ULM.
Â
The Warhawks have notched two wins against Northwestern State and Southland Conference preseason favorite Stephen F. Austin, but they have suffered losses in their last two games to Grambling State and Southern Miss.
Â
The team is anchored by Russell Harrison who is leading them in points (13.5) and rebounds (6.0) per game. The forward recorded a team-high 15 points and seven boards in the first meeting against LA Tech.
Â
The Bulldogs lead the series, 53-36, and have won seven straight.Â
