@LATechWBB Hosts Jackson State Tuesday

First meeting between the two programs since 1984

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech will return to the friendly confines of the Thomas Assembly Center Tuesday night to host Jackson State at 6:30 p.m. in a non-conference tilt on the hardwood.

Tech (2-1) returns home following a road loss at #25 Texas on Wednesday night in a game that saw the Lady Techsters win the battle of the boards against a much bigger Longhorns team.

Through the first three games of the season, LA Tech is plus 7.6 in rebounding margin led by Irene Murua (6.3 rpg), Bre Harris (6.0 rpg), Amber Dixon (6.0 rpg) and Anna Larr Roberson (5.7 rpg). Tech ranks among the Conference USA leaders in rebounding margin, an area that it struggled in last season.

Offensively, the Lady Techsters are averaging over 75 points per game and shooting 44 percent from the field and 72 percent from the free throw line. Tech, which was one of the top three-point shooting teams in the league a season ago, hasn't quite found its range from beyond the arc, hitting on just 30 percent thus far.

Bre Harris (16.7 ppg) leads Conference USA in field goal percentage, hitting 72 percent (18-25) of her field goal attempts this season. She also ranks among the league leaders in free throw percentage at 86 percent (12-14) and is coming off a career-high 25 points in the loss to Texas.

Keiunna Walker (13.3 ppg) and Raizel Guinto (10.3 ppg) are also averaging double figures.

Jackson State (0-2) has dropped its first two games of the year, falling to No. 6 Mississippi State and Stephen F. Austin by identical scores of 88-58. The Tigers are the defending SWAC champions and are coached by Tomekia Reed, a former LA Tech assistant coach (2013-14).

The Tigers are led by Dayzsha Rogan (16.5 ppg), Jariyah Covington (14.0 ppg) and Mississippi State transfer Ameysha Williams (11.5 ppg, 9.0 rpg). The trio has combined to score 84 of Jackson State's 116 points thus far.

Tech leads the all-time series against Jackson State 3-0, although the two programs have not met since a 69-65 win by the Lady Techsters on Feb. 10, 1984.

The contest can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on 99.3 FM with Malcolm Butler providing the play by play. The audio can also be heard through the Louisiana Tech Athletics mobile app and live video/audio is available through a paid subscription to CUSA.tv.
