LA Tech Hosts FAU on Senior Day

Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech will play its final game prior to bonus play on Saturday afternoon when they host Florida Atlantic at 2 p.m. inside the Thomas Assembly Center on Karl Malone Court.

The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Bill Hazen and Katie Hall calling the action.  Fans can also listen to Dave Nitz and Jack Thigpen call the game on KXKZ 107.5 FM (Ruston), KOKA 93.3 FM/980 AM (Shreveport) and KJVC 92.7 FM (Mansfield) as well as on the LA Tech Athletics app.

It will be Senior Day as the program honors the senior class of DaQuan Bracey, Derric Jean, Mubarak Muhammed and Oliver Powell.  The four players have combined to play in 418 career games as Bulldogs.

They each played a hand in helping LA Tech (18-7, 9-4 C-USA) get back into the win column with a 60-57 victory over FIU on Thursday.  What was thought to be a high-scoring track meet ended up being a defensive slugfest with the Bulldogs getting the final stop as Jean blocked a potential game-tying three.

Junior Amorie Archibald scored a team-high 17 points in the victory over the Panthers.  It marked the 15th time this season he has scored in double figures (has done so in four of the last five games).  He is averaging 11.4 points per game, behind only Bracey who is averaging 12.4 points.

With the victory, the 'Dogs clinched a spot in the top pod for bonus play.  They are alone in third place in the league standings with five league games remaining.

Florida Atlantic (14-12, 6-7 C-USA) is in a four-way tie for seventh, having suffered three straight losses.  The Owls are coming off a narrow 68-66 loss at Southern Miss.  Three of their seven conference defeats have now been by three points or less.

The Owls are known for shooting a lot of three-pointers, having taken 655 attempts from beyond the arc this season which ranks 36th in the country.  They average 8.0 made triples per game.

They have two players averaging double-figure points – Cornelius Taylor at 12.1 points and Jailyn Ingram at 10.9 points.  Ingram also leads the team in rebounding with an average of 4.9 boards per contest.

LA Tech leads the all-time series versus FAU, 6-2.  The two teams faced off against each other three times last season with the Bulldogs winning two of the three.

Two of the games were played in Boca Raton and the third was in the first round of the C-USA Tournament where the 'Dogs came back from down 16 to win, 57-56.
