RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech returns to the court Thursday night when the Lady Techsters host their Conference USA travel partner Southern Miss at 6:30 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center.
The contest can be heard on KNBB 97.7 FM with the pregame show slated to start at 6 p.m. Fans can watch the game through a paid subscription to CUSATV.com.
LA Tech (12-12, 4-9 C-USA) and Southern Miss (13-11, 5-8 C-USA) are separated by just one game in the league standings. The Golden Eagles defeated the Lady Techsters 66-60 in Hattiesburg on Jan. 4.
Tech leads the all-time series 9-8 and his 7-3 against Southern Miss in Ruston, including four straight victories by an average margin of 25 points.
Southern Miss enters the contest without its leading scorer in senior guard Shonte Hailes (16.8 ppg). Hailes has missed the past five games after suffering a knee injury in a road loss at Old Dominion on Jan. 30.
The Golden Eagles have won two straight games after defeating both Florida Atlantic (71-67) and FIU (58-53) on the road last weekend. Respect Leaphart (14.2 ppg) and Alarie Mayze (9.8 ppg) are the top two scorers for Southern Miss with the loss of Hailes.
Tech enters the contest on the heels of having its two-game winning streak snapped with a 77-75 loss at Florida Atlantic on Saturday.
Amber Dixon (12.1 ppg, 38 steals), Keiunna Walker (11.3 ppg, 36 steals), Grayson Bright (8.9 ppg, 16 blocks) and Raizel Guinto (8.1 ppg, 45 three-pointers) lead the Lady Techsters offensively.
