RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech sophomore sprinter
Ma'Asa Gay has been named the University's representative among the 2020 Winter Conference USA Spirit of Service Award recipients presented by the league office and announced on Tuesday.
The Crawfordville, Florida, native boasts a 3.70 grade point average in marketing and earned the award for her efforts in the classroom, on the track and around the community. She was named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll as a freshman (this year's list has not been released) and is a five-time Dean's List and one-time President's List honoree.
A sprinter for the Lady Techster indoor and outdoor track and field teams has volunteered in numerous community service projects both on campus and around the Ruston community, including the DART Pumpkin Patch, Rolling Hills Ministry Thrift Store, the Wesley Foundation, Loyal Blue Boxes fundraising, and the Mook 4 Cross Country Meet.
Gay competed in the 300m, 400m and 600m during the 2020 indoor track and field season and boasted the top time on the team in the 300m.
She is a 2018 graduate of Wakulla High School where she lettered in track and field, cross country and basketball.
