RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech fans selected the 2010-2020 Louisiana Tech Golf All-Decade Team last week.
The Bulldogs brought home one conference championship in the decade and seven Tech student-athletes earned at least one all-conference award. Five Bulldogs earned medalist honors at a tournament between 2010-2020.
The all-decade team has 'Dogs hailing from three countries and two states. No current student-athletes were eligible for the all-decade team.
Victor Lange was the leading vote-getter, receiving 95.8% of the vote to earn a spot on the team. The South African set record after record in Ruston and was named All-WAC or All-Conference USA all four years as a Bulldog. He also qualified three times for an NCAA Regional, placing in the top-25 on all three occasions.
Sam Forgan was the second-leading vote-getter, appearing on 86.1% of ballots. Forgan's 2010-11 average round of 73.54 ranks among the top-10 in Tech history. The Englishman also carded
33 par-or-better rounds during his time in Ruston, including 12 each as a junior and senior, which is third-most all time.
Cody Santone appeared on 77.1% of ballots to earn his spot on the all-decade team. The Bossier-native is fourth in Tech history with 32 par-or-better rounds. Santone's sophomore and junior seasons each rank in the top-25 for average round.
Cody Blankenship received 67% of the vote to earn his place among the best Bulldog golfers of the decade. The Rockwell, Texas-native earned All-WAC First Team honors in 2012 after carding an average round of 73.92. He also notched 5 top-20 finishes during the 2011-12 season, including a sixth place result at the Argent Financial Classic.
Jonathan Bale rounds out the fivesome with 58% of the all-decade vote. One of two Englishmen on the team, Bale is sixth in Tech history with 28 par-or-better rounds during his career. He also ranks in the top-20 with 10 par-or-better rounds during the 2011-12 season despite carding at least 4 fewer rounds than any other golfer in the top-20.
