RUSTON, La. – Second-year head coach
Amber McCray announced the 2020 volleyball schedule on Tuesday afternoon, featuring 22 matches and 10 contests scheduled to be played at the Thomas Assembly Center.
After leading her team to an 11-4 start in 2019, McCray returns 11 letterwinners from the 2019 squad. The 2020 roster also includes nine newcomers – seven freshmen, a redshirt freshman and a redshirt sophomore.
LA Tech opens its 2020 slate with an in-state clash at Northwestern State on Sept. 1. The Lady Techsters then return to Ruston to host the LA Tech Invitational, which is scheduled for Sept. 5-6. Opponents for the LA Tech Invitational have not yet been confirmed.
Tech travels to Starkville, Mississippi, for its next set of matches. The Mississippi State Tournament will be played from Sept. 11-12, and both of Tech's opponents are to be determined.
After a stop in Starkville, McCray's squad heads back home for an I-20 showdown against ULM on Sept. 15. Tech swept the Warhawks this past season, helping the Lady Techsters polish off a perfect 3-0 weekend in the LA Tech Invitational.
The team then ventures to Texas for a weekend tournament at Abilene Christian University on Sept. 18-19. All three of Tech's opponents are to be determined.
Conference USA competition begins with a road swing in Texas, where Tech will face off against North Texas on Sept. 25 and Rice on Sept. 27. LA Tech returns to Ruston for its first home conference matchup against UAB on Oct. 2. The Lady Techsters will close out the weekend with Middle Tennessee on Oct. 4
After a trip to Charlotte on Oct. 11, LA Tech will host Marshall on Oct. 16 and defending C-USA champion Western Kentucky on Oct. 18. Tech concludes its road schedule with three straight matches away from the Thomas Assembly Center, battling Florida Atlantic (Oct. 23), FIU (Oct. 25) and Southern Miss (Nov. 1).
Tech finishes it regular-season schedule with UTEP and UTSA on Nov. 6 and Nov. 8, respectively. The C-USA Tournament is scheduled to start on Nov. 21.
Tournament opponents will be added to the official 2020 schedule once they are finalized.
