CHOUDRANT – Louisiana Tech finished the second round of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate tied for seventh with a combined +7 (583) on Monday.
Junior James Swash tied for ninth after the first two rounds with a -1 (143) to lead the Bulldogs.
Swash birdied on five holes in the second round, and had a great back nine after finishing the back half three under par (33).
"Individually, I played really solid today," Swash said. "I made a few stupid errors which cost me, but I managed to get my round back together on the back nine."
A pair of Bulldogs eagled in round two of the tournament with sophomore Lake Juban recording an eagle on hole 11 and senior Mac Murphy recording an eagle on hole 17.
"As a team, we didn't quite perform today," Swash said. "We gave away too many shots carelessly, but after talking with the our coach and after the round, I'm feeling positive that we will shoot a good score tomorrow and, hopefully, move us up a few places."
No. 44 UAB ranks first heading into the final round of the tournament with a combined -17 (559). Texas State -9 (567), ULM -4 (572), South Alabama -2 (574) and Little Rock -1 (575) round out the top five.
Louisiana Tech will tee off on Tuesday at 9:40 and 9:50 a.m. at hole 10 in the final round of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate.
