LA Tech-Southern Miss Series Shifts to Ruston

Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+

RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech men's basketball team will go for the sweep over Southern Miss on Saturday as the series shifts to Ruston with tipoff set for 2 p.m. inside the Thomas Assembly Center on Karl Malone Court.

LA Tech (13-5, 6-3 C-USA) will wear its throwback jerseys as part of Throwback at the TAC presented by Karl Malone Toyota of Ruston.  It will be just the second time this season and the first time at home that the Bulldogs will don the Columbia blues.

It is also Coaches vs. Cancer week as the Bulldog coaching staff will wear lapel pins and sneakers to help increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living.

The matchup will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Lyn Rollins and Chris Mycoskie calling the game.  Fans can also listen to Dave Nitz and Jack Thigpen call the action through the LA Tech Sports Network.

The 'Dogs came away victorious in game one of the series in Hattiesburg, using a second-half surge to defeat Southern Miss (7-9, 3-6 C-USA) by a final score of 76-63.  After being tied at halftime, LA Tech outscored USM, 39-26, in the second stanza while limiting them to 28.1 percent shooting in the final 20 minutes.

For the 10th time this season, there were at least four Bulldogs to score double-digit points.  Cobe Williams anchored the team with 15 (two shy of tying his career-high).  Isaiah Crawford, JaColby Pemberton and Kenneth Lofton, Jr. each tallied 10 points each.

For Crawford, it was his team-leading 12th game reaching double-figures.  He is averaging 11.6 points per game, which ranks second on the team.  Kalob Ledoux, the team's leading scorer at 12.1 points, made his return to the court after missing four games.  The senior came off the bench to record nine points.

Defensively, LA Tech held USM to 40.0 percent shooting for the game, marking the 13th time this season holding its opponent to 40.0 percent or less.

The Bulldogs remained in third in the West Division standings while the Golden Eagles fell into a two-way tie for sixth along with UTEP.

USM had three players score 15 points in Thursday's contest – DeAndre Pinckney, Tae Hardy and Tyler Stevenson.  Stevenson continues to lead the Golden Eagles in scoring (13.9) and rebounding (7.4) this season.

Thanks to the 12-3 record against USM, LA Tech is close to taking the lead in the series that dates back to the 1930s (now trail 44-42).  The Bulldogs have dominated the Golden Eagles in Ruston, winning 15 in a row with the last home loss coming in 1968.
