RUSTON – Louisiana Tech forwards
Isaiah Crawford and
Kenneth Lofton, Jr. were among 11 players voted by the league head coaches as 2021-22 Preseason All-Conference USA Honorees, as announced by the league office on Thursday.
Â
LA Tech, who was also tabbed second in the preseason poll, was the only program with multiple players named as preseason honorees (first time since 2015 multiple Bulldogs received this accolade).
Â
Crawford, a Third Team All-Conference USA selection, enters his third season with the 'Dogs and is coming off a campaign that saw him average 11.8 points per contest, second most on the squad. He led the team in C-USA games only with an average of 13.3 points per game.Â
Â
The versatile forward from Fort Worth, Texas also averaged 5.1 rebounds per game and tied for the most blocks last season with 23, all after recovering from a knee injury that cut short his freshman year.
Â
Lofton, Jr., also a Third Team All-Conference USA selection as well as C-USA Freshman of the Year, anchored the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounding with an average of 12.1 points and 7.5 boards per game.
Â
The Port Arthur, Texas native became the first Bulldog since Paul Millsap (2003-04) to lead the team in both categories. He registered nine double-doubles, ranking second in C-USA and 27th in the country. He also tied for the team lead with 23 blocks and tied for second with 33 steals.Â
Â
LA Tech received 184 points, along with six first place votes, while being picked second behind UAB.
Â
Crawford and Lofton, Jr. are two of the four starters returning off last season's roster that won 24 games, claimed a C-USA West Division title and reached the Final Four of the National Invitation Tournament.
