RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech football (3-7, 2-4 C-USA) hosts Southern Miss (1-9, 0-6 C-USA) in LA Tech's home finale on Friday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. CT. Fans are encouraged to wear red as Tech honors its 18 seniors for Senior Day.
ABOUT LA TECH (3-7, 2-4 C-USA)
Louisiana Tech added another tally to the win column last week in its 42-32 victory over Charlotte at home. Six of Tech's 10 games in 2021 have gone down to the wire as each of those contests were decided by a single possession. The Bulldogs have won two more games at home in 2021 with a 45-42 victory over Southeastern and a 24-17 conference-opening win against North Texas.
Offensively, Tech is led by graduate quarterbackÂ
Austin Kendall with 269.14 passing yards per game, graduate running backÂ
Marcus Williams Jr. with 67.40 rushing yards per game and sophomore wide receiverÂ
Smoke Harris with 64.50 receiving yards per game. Senior linebackerÂ
Trey Baldwin and freshman linebackerÂ
Tyler Grubbs lead the Bulldogs defensively with 79 and 78 total tackles, respectively.
Â
Head coachÂ
Skip Holtz is in his ninth season at the helm of the LA Tech football program. Holtz has led Tech to seven straight bowl games and earned his 150th career win as a FBS head coach in the 45-42 victory over Southeastern on Sept. 11.
ABOUT SOUTHERN MISS (1-9, 0-6 C-USA)
Southern Miss has lost eight straight games in 2021 with its lone victory being a 37-0 win over Grambling State on Sept. 11.
Â
The Golden Eagles have faced some challenges this year at the quarterback position as they have used a total of 10 QBs this season. Southern Miss used quarterbacks No. 8, No. 9 and No. 10 last weekend when Frank Gore, Jr., Antavious Willis and Dajon Richard all took snaps at UTSA - all in the wildcat formation.
Â
Gore leads the team in rushing with 73.10 yards per game and junior wide receiver Jason Brownlee leads in receiving yards with 47.80. Defensively, redshirt sophomore defensive back Malik Shorts leads the team with 81 total tackles.
Â
Head coach Will Hall is in his first year at the helm of the Golden Eagle program.
