ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (4-1)
LA Tech continued its hot-shooting ways this past Wednesday, blowing out ULM by a final score of 96-74 to extend its winning streak to four. For the third straight game, the Bulldogs lit it up from three. This time they made a season-high 13 while shooting 48 percent from beyond the arc.
Seven of those came from sharp-shooter
Keaston Willis who scored a season-high 22 points in the process. The seven made triples tied a career high for the UIW transfer and is the most made by a Bulldog since 2016. He is currently averaging 14.6 points per game with a total of 18 three-pointers.
Also averaging 14.6 points per game is
Kenneth Lofton, Jr. who registered his third straight double-double with 19 points and 12 boards versus the Warhawks. He is also averaging a team-high 10.2 rebounds per game and ranks fifth in the country in offensive rebounds per game.
Behind Willis and Lofton, Jr. is
Amorie Archibald who is averaging 12.4 points. The fifth-year senior has scored 17 in back-to-back games and surpassed 400 career assists this past Wednesday.
As a team, LA Tech is averaging 80.8 points, which ranks fourth in C-USA and 63rd in the country.
ABOUT NC STATE (4-1)
After suffering their first loss of the season to Oklahoma State in the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase in Connecticut, NC State returned home to pick up a 65-57 victory over Texas Southern. The Wolfpack trailed by three at half, but outscored TSU, 37-26, in the second half. They are 3-0 at home this season.
NC State second in the ACC and 25th in the country in turnovers per game, averaging just 10.2 turnovers. They also get to the free throw line a lot, ranking in the top 50 in the nation in both free throws attempted and free throws made.
The Wolfpack get most of their scoring from five guys, all who are averaging at least 10 points per game. Dereon Seabron leads the charge, averaging 20.6 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. He ranks top 20 in the country in both categories and has four double-doubles this season.
THE SERIES
LA Tech does not play ACC teams very often. The last time the Bulldogs faced an ACC opponent during the regular season was NC State back in 2014. It is the lone meeting between the two programs. In that game in Raleigh, LA Tech led by 15 points at halftime and had an 18-point edge with 14 minutes to go. However, the Wolfpack outscored the Bulldogs, 41-15, the rest of the way to win 73-65.
LA Tech's last win over an ACC school came in the first round of the 2013 NIT when the Bulldogs won, 71-66, at Florida State.
